The Final Thought: Why This Election Is So Personal

As we head into the final 48 hours, I want to leave you with one final thought:

When local elections are treated as partisan, a new set of priorities enters the room. Decisions stop being about “what is best for our neighborhoods” and start being about “what is best for the party.”

Partisan politics and other outside interests don’t understand (or care) about the complex, local issues we’re facing in Golden. It’s a top-down model that conflicts with the “Golden Way” of doing things—a way that has always been about neighbors, our community, and sensible solutions.

State or national parties don’t care about our traffic. They don’t care about our parking. They don’t care about our quality of life. Why? Because THEIR agendas crowd out the issues WE care about most.

My perspective on this was forged by 15 years in a city DOMINATED by machine politics. I know exactly what a ‘party machine’ looks like, how it operates, and how it ALWAYS puts residents last. I moved away from that city for a reason. And it’s the very reason I am so passionate about this.

My opponent has made his choice: he has accepted and promoted endorsements from a major political party. What’s more, he’s accepted financial contributions from political party representatives.

I’ve made a different choice. My loyalty isn’t to a party; it’s to Golden.

My platform isn’t about a national or state party; it’s about what works FOR GOLDEN.

That’s a loyalty that comes from 19 years of living in this city, raising my family here, and serving this community. My entire campaign is built on a deep knowledge of Golden AND fiercely protecting our city from partisan and other outside interests from imposing their agendas on us.

My “Architect’s Method” and the “Golden Way” are transparent, RESIDENTS-FIRST processes where decisions are made WITH residents, not FOR them. And equally as important, we’re tackling issues that WE care about, not what THEY care about. They’re processes that are accountable to neighbors, not to outside party interests–and especially not to their checkbooks.

I’m running to replace the “top-down” model driven by outside interests because I’m tired of hearing residents say over and over again… “I submitted my ideas for making Golden better, but I was ignored.”

Ballots are due this Tuesday, November 4th. Please make a plan to drop off your ballot. Every single vote is critical if you want to get back to the Golden Way and focus on what matters for Golden!
